I live close to an area called 5 Points in Jacksonville, FL. It would hate to and probably wouldn’t define itself as hip. This would infer that it is populated with hipsters these days, and no one wants to be refered to as a hipster because that term has come to represent trying way too hard not to be fashionable, although in that attempt you have succeeded in just that and everyone knows it.
I like 5 points. It really has a great mix of bars, restaurants, parks and markets, old architecture and history. Without further ado, the 5 Points Cocktail… which can also be found featured here over at the Bourbon & Oak blog.
1 oz Buffalo Trace bourbon
1 oz Laird’s applejack
1/2 oz Solerno Blood Orange liqueur
1/4 oz Fernet Branca
1/4 oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur
orange twist for garnish
In a mixing glass, combine all ingredients.
Add ice. Stir vigorously 30 to 40 times.
Strain into a chilled coupe.
Garnish with an orange twist (make sure to twist the garnish over the drink to release the essential oils)
